Here you will find educational and learning information and materials associated with IMEL. SIU offers several courses directly related to the research conducted in the IMEL. Specifically, SIU offers courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels on subjects including Computer Aided Design (CAD), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE), and Advanced Mechanics of Materials. Further, IMEL has submitted posters to many research town meetings and various national/international conferences. These posters include topics that overviews of NDE methods utilized in IMEL and information on composite structures, as well as specific applications of NDE in areas including defect detection in Carbon/Carbon composite aircraft brake disks, data fusion with FEA, and artificial neural networks for defect detection and classification.
