Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Anish Poudel is an instructor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Energy Processes and IMEL supervisor at Southern Illinois University (SIU), Carbondale, IL.  A native of Nepal, Mr. Poudel was awarded with an overseas international student award in 2004 to continue his undergraduate studies in University of Evansville (UE), Evansville, IN.  He received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from UE in 2008.  He then received his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from SIU in 2011.  Anish has been working with Dr. Tsuchin Philip Chu since 2009.  Anish’s Ph.D. work focused on non-destructive characterization of adhesively bonded joints and composite repairs commonly found in aircrafts/aerospace applications.  His current work also dealt with the development of a hybrid NDE DIC technique that is capable of determining bond shear strength and measuring bulk deformation and strain profiles in adhesively bonded structures.  This will be a key for monitoring and maintaining aerospace/aircraft structural integrity, safety, and reliability during their production process and in-service operations.
Dr. Poudel is highly motiviated and dedicated for the work he undertakes with excellent leadership and communication skills. He is confident of being able to live up with the standards set by SIU and makes a significant contribution to the university, to the society, and to the world where he lives and make a difference.
